The Taneytown Lions Club     Taneytown, Maryland     Multiple District 22W     Region IV  Zone 1

Serving the Community, the World, and Lionism for over 62 years

The Taneytown Lions Club was organized, June 24, 1947, sponsored by the Union Bridge Lions and chartered September 9, 1947 with 29 charter members.

Our club currently has 64 members. The Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6:29 p.m. at the Firemans Activity Building on Memorial Drive, Taneytown, MD 21787.

The club continues to serve the community with many service projects, donations to worthy causes, and help in times of need. We support LIONS number one priority of Sight Conservation and aid to the visually impaired with significant contributions to the Maryland Eye bank, LIONS Vision Research Center, and Leader Dog program.   In recent years, we have helped more and more needy individuals with eye exams and glasses.

Lions Food Trailer

THE FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE OF OUR LIONS FOOD TRAILER
and first real test of the club's ability to serve a big crowd last Saturday was deemed a success by chairman, Gary Smith. The club's very first attempt to serve up crab cakes and french fries received rave reviews from the crowd and a long line developed from about 11:30 till 2:00 p.m. Some lessons were learned and some changes will be made, but all-in-all it was a great first effort. The committee has agreed to try selling breakfast sandwiches, etc., at the city's Farmer's Market Saturday mornings beginning June 2, as well as the monthly events being planned by the city's Main Street promotional committee. We surely owe a debt of gratitude to all those who helped last Saturday! (Incidentally - the trailer looked great and surely drew a lot of attention!!!)
